Course Description: This three-day professional learning workshop provides K-12 educators with an opportunity to develop skills and confidence needed to deliver instruction in environmental science. Participants will learn and reflect on ways to create classroom communities that develop students’ environmental identity. They will learn about environmental research happening in South Dakota and discuss how to connect it to K-12 classrooms and content standards. We will look at multiple perspectives of approaching environmental science, including Indigenous Ways of Knowing, to inspire students to see hope and to become change agents in their communities. Nature journaling, hands-on activities, and a place-based field trip will be part of the experience.
