Course Description: The Interdisciplinary Health Care Team course, offered by the Center for Disabilities Sanford School of Medicine, is an interdisciplinary study of the field of neurodevelopmental and related disabilities. It provides students from a variety of disciplines, team process, including theories and responsibilities of various disciplines as they relate to current trends and practices.

The goal of this course is to provide SD LEND trainees with a foundational knowledge of interdisciplinary, person-/family-centered, culturally appropriate screening, evaluation, treatment, and care of children and adults with neurodevelopmental or other related disabilities. Through experiential learning, trainees will become more mindful of themselves as leaders. Trainees will be exposed to critical issues related to the field of disabilities, including but not limited to, the roles and responsibilities of various disciplines which are typically involved in the delivery of services to children and adults with disabilities and the policy landscape that affects the nature of service provision to those with disabilities and their families.
