Course Description: Reading Recovery® Procedures for Reading Recovery® Teachers in Training will be refined. A heavy emphasis will be placed on theoretical foundations on which Reading Recovery® Procedures are based. Classroom instruction is coordinated with the individual instruction of four at-risk students in an integrated field experience. Classes and fieldwork are to be in compliance with the Reading Recovery® standards and guidelines.
Enrollment is restricted to teachers who have earned a bachelor's degree, hold a valid teaching certificate, have three years teaching experience in the primary grades (preferred), have earned a grade of ‘B’ or higher in Reading Recovery I, agree to complete the graduate work required for certification during the current school year, and accept and agree to the on-going teacher training and supervision as per contract specifications for each succeeding year employed as a Reading Recovery teacher. In addition, teachers must earn a grade of ‘B’ or higher to pass this class.
