Description:
Review the basics for periodontal instrumentation. Identify instruments and different uses and applications for each instrument. Utilize all instruments in hands-on application with typodonts. Practice stroke and positioning for each instrument application. Participants should bring eyewear or loupes they typically utilize in clinical care. Self and Peer-Assessment will be utilized to provide feedback. This is not a certification course.

Objectives:

  1. Understand the basics of instrument design and working ends. 
  2. Identify the periodontal considerations and conditions for different types of instrument use.
  3. Identify basic design considerations of each type of instrument. 
  4. Understand the application of each type of instrument.
  5. Identify basic ergonomic considerations when utilizing advanced instrumentation techniques. 
  6. Provide peer and self-assessments of ergonomics and stroke.
  7. Utilize best practices when selecting instruments during periodontal instrumentation procedures.

10:00  Lecture and hands on applications of Files, Chisels, and Hoes Design

11:00  Lecture and hands on applications of Scalers and Nevis Design

12:00  Lunch (on your own)

12:30  Lecture and hands on applications of ultrasonic scalers 

1:30    Lecture and hands on applications of air polisher (supra and subgingival)

2:20    Break

2:30    Lecture and hands on applications of advanced periodontal designs (Minis, After Fives, etc)

3:30    Review of self and peer-assessment in ergonomics and stroke, Final Examination

4:30    Adjourn

A full refund will be given if you cancel at least one week (five working days) before the program. If you cancel less than one week prior to the program, a $50 processing fee will be deducted from your refund.

Participation/Certification Programs:
A full refund will be issued if you cancel at least one month (30 total days) before the first program session. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the program, a late-cancellation fee of $100 will be deducted from your refund.

There are no refunds for home study or online courses once you have registered. Please review the course details before making the non-refundable registration payment.
