Prerequisites

Prior to enrolling in SPED 592: Autism Spectrum Education & Resource Training (ASERT 3 of 3), you must have completed the specified prerequisites (if you have not taken a prerequisite, you can click on the catalog code link to see a list of upcoming course sections):

SPED 592: ASERT 1 of 3

Instructor: Brittany Schmidt Credits: 3 Tuition: $120 Dates: July 31- September 26, 2024 Location: Hybrid- Online & Sioux Falls, SD Course Description: Autism Spectrum Education and Resources Training (ASERT) sessions 1-3 are designed to guide and support students through the assessment to intervention process for autistic students through the implementation of evidence-based practices. ASERT students will receive monthly mentor support and eight-days of training over the 2024-2025 school year. Trainers will provide the course content and support to both SPED 592 students and their mentors within and between the eight training days. Participation in ASERT is a commitment and as such participants will be required to obtain administrator support for their participation as well as time to complete the ASERT requirements. This support will need to be provided in the form of an agreement letter signed by both the ASERT participant and their administrator. There are three sessions of ASERT, labeled ASERT 1, ASERT 2 (September 27- November 1, 2024), and ASERT 3 (November 2, 2024- March 3, 2025). Students must take all three sessions sequentially within the same school year. ASERT 2 and ASERT 3 each have separate syllabi.
